ESPN’s Dan Rafael reports that Saturday night’s HBO Boxing event featuring Timothy Bradley Jr. and Jessie Vargas drew an average of 1.121 million viewers for the live event from Carson, California. The fight peaked at 1.228 million viewers on a night where Bradley pulled off a unanimous decision.
The undercard featuring Oscar Valdez and Ruben Tamayo drew 826,000 viewers with a peak at 916,000.
The HBO fight is 9th best this year on the premium networks (HBO or Showtime) pulling in front of the Terrence Crawford-Thomas Dulorme fight.

The ratings are once again reflect that boxing is once again back. Tim Bradley has made himself into a name since his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao 3 years ago. Bradley improved in ratings since his last event on HBO when he drew 966,000 viewers against Diego Chaves. Notably, of the top ratings on HBO or Showtime this year 8 are HBO events while just 1 (Wilder-Stiverne) was on Showtime.

By the way idiot, if PBC fails, the name value is worthless, they would have nothing of value other than that big screen they travel with. HAHAHA! If the UFC failed- which it won’t because it has been owned by Zuffa for 14 years and has been thriving, there would be a ton of investors ready to buy the name/contracts/film vault, etc. up for hundreds of millions. PBC and their shit ratings would just fall into the category of the tons of failed sports leagues that are mocked over the years like the USFL, XFL, Slamball, The IFL, The World Boxing League, etc etc.
Another difference is that the UFC actually gets paid to air their fights and makes money through several different revenue streams, while PBC pays to air their fights and loses millions for every fight with few revenue streams, including no ppv, time buy deals, etc.

Well, I’m guessing the investors, Al Haymon, Floyd Mayweather, all of their fighters under contract, etc will give a shit. Haymon will never be able to borrow a dime from anyone ever again, Mayweather is clearly planning on being a part of this in some capacity in the future, those fighters contracts will be null and void where they were being drastically overpaid and 500m down the drain doesn’t go unnoticed.
A good result for a good card. I’m no big fan of Bradley – I think he uses his head too much and lacks power – but he’s a top name and you expect him to do over 1M on a platform like HBO.
The ending of the fight was unfortunate, but it sets up a rematch which should also do over 1M on HBO.
