UFC and TikTok agree to partnership

February 18, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC has forged a deal with TikTok in a multi-year partnership in which the promotion will provide exclusive live content on the social-video platform.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal begins this week with this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night featuring Curtis Blaydes vs. Derrick Lewis.

The partnership will include the UFC putting live footage content on TikTok including weigh-ins, fighter interviews, press conferences and more.  It will be shared on its multiple includes including @UFC, @UFCBrasil, @UFCEurope, @UFCRussia. The content will help promote upcoming events.  The UFC hopes to build upon its 6.3 million users on TikTok.  It is third overall in followers for sports leagues on TikTok.

According to Deadline.com, TikTok reached 100 million users in 2019.

Payout Perspective:

This is another deal in which the UFC is making strides in reaching out to the young demographic as most people using the social media platform skew in the 18-34 range.  Reaching out and promoting upcoming events on TikTok should gain more visibility with the demo and the UFC hopes to leverage this into gaining more visibility for its events.
