MMA Junkie reports that the UFC is brokering a new TV deal with Sky and FOX Sports which could land a new edition of “The Ultimate Fighter” in the region.
UFC exec Tom Wright made the announcement this past weekend. The UFC is working with FOX Sports Australia and Sky in New Zealand to bring a new TUF: Nations to the region. Any deal probably will not happen until 2016 Wright stated.
Payout Perspective:
There are hurdles for this to happen despite what appears to be a strong fan base in Australia and New Zealand. As Junkie points out, there is a cage ban in two Australian states. But those laws could be overturned pending state elections later this month. The international TV deals, which have been praised by S&P and has aided the company’s credit status, will also aid it with its continued expansion of its global footprint.

One Anthony Mundine PPV probably generates more revenue in OZ than an entire year of UFC revenue there.
PP – maybe, but I like the way the UFC is aggressive about international expansion. They don’t have to be the biggest thing in any one country, it they can be decent size in many countries, that can add up to a lot of revenue. They just need to keep costs under control.
