Payout Perspective:
It appears that the move to Thursday night has helped the ratings. With the DVR +3 ratings, this week’s episode should clear 600K viewers for the second straight week. It was a good week for the show considering it went up against the NFL on ESPN.
Chris says
Still really low numbers given the cost of the show and the timeslot. Looking like the show is not coming back for a second season which is a huge failure for Viacom/Bellator.
Sampson Simpson says
How much does the show cost to produce?
Chris says
I’m sure its not cheap, most reality shows cost a decent amount of money to produce.
put it this way, MMA Uncensored did about 400-550k viewers and that show was pulled and that show costs way less to produce.
reality is replays of manswers do more viewers in that slot than Fight Master.
I dont know if they get a second season, it wont be because of the ratings, if they do it will be because if they dont it shows they arent invested in Bellator. that and the move to Fridays.
I think they should do another season, maybe take a loss if they have to, make some changes, add Tito/Page, Mo to the coaches which will be more entertaining than Randy, Frank and Jackson.
Ask Jason, I mean you have to pay the crew, food, setup of the gym and everything. All the editing of the show, housing them for 6 weeks etc.
BrainSmasher says
I dotn think Uncensored got that many viewers but a couple times. But you are right. It was probably less than 1/10 of what this reality show would cost and was getting 1/2 or 1/3 of the ratings. $ for $ it was getting much better ratings and they pulled the plug.
Dr ozzie says
MMA Uncensored was 95 per cent about the UFC…3 per cent about Bellator and 2 per cent about other promotions. I’m sure that had a lot to do with it. Fight Master is 100 per cent Bellator…
Chris says
mma uncensored started mostly as UFC cause they had to talk UFC to draw viewers but towards they end they really started to ignore UFC.
They didnt mention the UFC on FOx show, think it was the Dec Bendo/DIaz stacked fox show, they didnt mention that one time the episode before that event. They never talked about Browne/Big Foot event, they just started to ignore UFC events cause they didnt want to promote them on Spike anymore.
At that point viewers just tuned out and the got the boot.
Sampson Simpson says
What’s this?
“So why was it dropped? Simple. Spike was forced out of its previous broadcast agreement with the UFC by the deal with Bellator. A source indicates that the deal with Bellator MMA expressly prohibits the channel from doing any other MMA show (understandable). It also bans the network from speaking about the UFC at all (a bit restrictive, no?)

HAHAHAHAHAHA! What an informative answer… funny how most networks jumped on the reality shows format based on the LOW cost compared to alternate programming formats.
Jeremy says
I would bet there will be a second season. Now if the second does poorly, that will be it. The only way I see it getting canceled is if the remaining episodes completely tank and go below 500k.
I am assuming the DVR +3 are being reported because Spike is releasing those numbers? Payout does not report them for any other show.

Sampson keeps exposing these shills. Another truth debunked just like the $100 million per year deal with FOX.
Diego says
RD,
Sampson “exposed” a shill who claimed the UFC had a $100M per year deal with Fox, when in reality it was $90M (according to Sampson).
It was that renowned UFC shill Josh Gross who misrepresented the figure by a whopping 11%.

Oh wait, here’s an article from the Sports Journal Daily with the $100M figure just as Josh Gross reported.
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/SB-Blogs/Events/World-Congress/2012/03/UFC-Fox.aspx
Sampson’s link was to an article that did not quote the SBD, and instead relied on unamed “sources with knowledge of the negotiations”.

The article Sampson is quoting is from two days before the deal was officially announced where Ourand is saying what he had heard previously about negotiations. The exact same writer, John Ourand, a few days later and ever since has since said that the deal ended up at $100 million per year.

“@MMASupremacy There you go! RT @Ourand_SBJ: Source: Fox is paying the UFC around an average of $100 million per year for its seven-year deal. #MMA #UFC”
Sampson Simpson says
“around an average” of $100 million.
That sounds like an inflated number thrown to the guy.
If it was definitively $100 then he would have stated so.
