TUF Episode 8 and Bellator 79 ratings

November 6, 2012 by Jason Cruz 2 Comments

MMA Junkie reports on the ratings from this past weekend’s TUF and Bellator episodes on Friday.  Notably both received good ratings as TUF surpassed 1 million viewers and Bellator received a season high of 220,000 viewers.

TUF Episode 8

TUF 16 Episode 1: 947,000

TUF 16 Episode 2: 872,000

TUF 16 Episode 3: 775,000

TUF 16 Episode 4: 1.1 million

TUF 16 Episode 5: 624,000

TUF 16 Episode 6:  811,000

TUF 16 Episode 7:  676,000

TUF 16 Episode 8: 1.1 million

Bellator 79

Bellator 74: 190,000 viewers

Bellator 75: 145,000

Bellator 76: 175,000

Bellator 77: 149,000

Bellator 78: 154,000

Bellator 79:  220,000 (UPDATED)

Payout Perspective:

Episode 8 received a 0.6 in the 18-49 demo according to TV By the Numbers.  For those wondering, the Discovery Channel’s reality show, “Gold Rush” won the night with over 4 million people tuning in.  TUF rating is a pleasant surprise as I did not know think TUF could reach the 1 million barrier until the finale.

The Bellator rating which was updated this afternoon is a good sign for the company as it hit a high for season 7.  Friday was a good night to watch MMA.

Things are only looking up for Bellator. This also saw UFC cast-off Clementi advance in the lightweight tournament. That will give them some name recognition to work with. I’m liking Bellator and their russian connection. They are putting on some really exciting fights. Take Dave Jansen and the Russian they set him against. That was a WAR and it was on free television. As an mma fan I couldn’t ask more from Bellator.

People who do martial arts will laugh and tell me it’s fake. But then I ask them why they do martial arts? 😉

I should point out that according to those at TKO that the ESPN/MVPW boxing deal is a revenue sharing agreement similar to the original AEW/Turner deal in 2019 and not a full paying media rights deal which Top Rank had and wasn't renewed.
