Three of the four fighters chosen in the EA Sports MMA and Sherdog.com exchange program will fight Dec. 4th. The exchange program announced at the Noons v. Diaz IIfight Oct. 9th had four young fighters train with a Strikeforce mentor and their camps.
According to the Strikeforce press release, exchange trainees Fernando Bettega, Max Martytniouk and Patrick Cummins will take what they’ve learned from their mentors and put it to use on Dec. 4th.
The program, which sent each pair of STRIKEFORCE star and future star hopeful to several of the world’s leading MMA camps, kicked off immediately after the live, SHOWTIME®-televised STRIKEFORCE: Diaz vs. Noons II event on Oct. 9 and concluded at the end of last month.
The fighter exchange followed the format of the EA SPORTS MMA video game by taking four up-and-coming fighters and teaming them up with established fighters to get an emersion course on what it takes to be the best. The result is an exciting journey that will end in the ultimate test for these fighters at the STRIKEFORCE event.”
Payout Perspective:
It would be too much pressure on the fighters to say that the success of the program will depend on how they do on Dec. 4th. However, the fact that each fighter received training from a Strikeforce mentor (Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Gegard Mousai and Jason Miller) and their respective camps puts their mentor’s names on the line.
As we have indicated upon its announcement, this exchange program is a unique confluence of sponsors to promote Strikeforce. It gives fans a chance to follow young fighters and personalize their stories prior to stepping into the cage. Regardless of how the fighters do, this is an innovative way for Strikeforce and its partners to promote the Strikeforce brand.

This is a good idea, but like most of the cards, nobody is watching. I would much prefer a similar format for the ultimate fighter. I’m sick of watching people spray each other with garden hoses and blast loads in sushi. If Strikeforce could get this in a decent TV slot it could help take them to the next level.
