Faber in K-Swiss Campaign

August 3, 2010 by Kelsey Philpott 1 Comment

Urijah Faber will be featured in a new K-Swiss Tubes marketing campaign alongside the Saints’ Jeremy Shockey, 49ers’ Patrick Willis, and fictional character Kenny Powers from HBO’s “Eastbound and Down”.

Payout Perspective:

K-Swiss purchased MMA sponsor FORM Athletics last week, but further signaled its commitment to MMA this week with the inclusion of Urijah Faber in its Tubes marketing campaign.

Faber is an obvious choice for the California-based shoe and apparel company. The California Kid is immensely popular in the state, but also seems to embody the K-Swiss brand image: cool and laid back – the type of kid that could just as easily be skateboarding or surfing for a living.

It’s nice to see that MMA is finally getting to the point where company’s are willing to consider the sport and its athletes as a means to target their own consumer markets. Faber is really no different than any other popular Californian athlete – that’s point.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
