Report: Canelo-Smith draws less than 300K PPV buys

Lance Pugmire of The LA Times reports that the early information for the buy rate of the Canelo Alvarez-Liam Smith PPV last Saturday drew less than 300,000 buys. Top Rank to distribute Pacquiao-Vargas PPV

The Sports Business Journal reports that Top Rank will not seek a distributor for Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Jessie Vargas on Saturday, November 5th. HBO Boxing on Saturday afternoon featuring Gennady Golovkin taking on Kell Brook drew 843,000 subscribers. The event aired in the afternoon from 3:10pm-3:28pm PT per Sports TV Ratings. ESPN’s Dan Rafael notes that July’s HBO PPV featuring Terrence Crawford as he took on Viktor Postol drew between 50,000-60,000 PPV buys. I should point out that according to those at TKO that the ESPN/MVPW boxing deal is a revenue sharing agreement similar to the original AEW/Turner deal in 2019 and not a full paying media rights deal which Top Rank had and wasn't renewed.
