It was Justin Gaethje’s night. Not only did he defeat Ilia Topuria to win the UFC lightweight title, he earned two bonuses at the end of the night.
Gaethje made the former champ quit on the stool after the fourth round of their five round fight. As a result, he earned a $425K Performance Bonus. His fight with Topuria also earned the Fight of the Night which granted him another $400K.
Cyril Gane earned the other $425K Performance Bonus for his stoppage of Alex Pereira. It was the former two-division champion’s first fight at Heavyweight and he looked a little slower and the beginning of the end was a stiff jab.
Of course these are estimated bonuses since World Liberty Financial stepped in to up the bonuses…but in crypto. Thus, as MMA Mania points out the earnings were broken down like this:
Performance Of The Night: $425,000
$100k UFC Performance of the Night
$125k in USD1 sponsored World Liberty Financial
$200k in CRO sponsored by Crypto.com
Fight Of The Night: $400,000
$100k UFC Performance of the Night
$300k in CRO sponsored by Crypto.com
Despite losing, Topuria did pick up the other end of the Fight of the Night Bonus.
With every fight on the card ending in a KO or TKO, all of the winners earned stoppage bonuses. Diego Lopes, Bo Nickal, Mauricio Ruffy, Josh Hokit and Sean O’Malley. All received $25K bonuses.
