Pacquiao looking for Mayweather rematch

October 30, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Manny Pacquiao is out of retirement. The 46-year-old is looking run it back with Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Pacquiao stated that there are negotiations ongoing for a rematch from their May 2015 fight versus Mayweather. Pacquiao dropped a unanimous decision to Mayweather.

This past July, Pacquiao fell short in his return to the ring in a loss to Mario Barrios. He plans to return to the ring in January in a rumored matchup against 30-year-old Rolly Romero .

Pacquiao retired in 2022, but it appears he’s back to being an active fighter. He served as a senator in the Philippines from 2016 until 2022 and then ran for president of the Philippines but lost.

Mayweather agreed to an exhibition bout with Mike Tyson although no timeframe has been announced for that fight. Pacquiao indicated that he would like the rematch to be more than an exhibition. According to Ring Magazine, the venue for the fight could be the Sphere in Las Vegas.

‼️ Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that the Floyd Mayweather rematch talks are for a "real fight".

The bout is being discussed for April in Las Vegas, with the Sphere a potential venue.

The Ring reports that Pacquiao is also in a negotiation to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Payout Perspective:

It seems as though Pacquiao is looking for something to do as he attempts to get back in the ring at the age of 46. One of his sons, 24, will make his pro debut in California this year. But, either Pacquiao still has the thirst for competition or is in need of the money. To be honest, a rematch with Mayweather could still draw a ton of fans nostalgic over the two boxers.
