Pacquiao comes out of retirement to fight in July

May 9, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Manny Pacquiao is coming out of retirement to fight Mario Barrios for the WBC Welterweight Championship on July 19th in Las Vegas. The 46-year-old Pacquiao last professional fight was in August 2021.

The fight will likely take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as the T-Mobile Arena is booked according to ESPN.

Pacquiao will face Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship as part of a PBC on Prime Video PPV. Also on the card, Sebastian Fundora will take on Tim Tszyu in a rematch of their March 2024 fight.

Pacquiao participated in an exhibition boxing match against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo and the rumors had been swirling about a comeback.

At 46, it is hard to think that Pacquiao has anything left in the tank to show fans. More likely, Pacquiao misses boxing and wants to come back. But, its hard to think that Pacquiao will show any glimpse of his younger days. There is always a chance that he has a George Foreman-like renaissance but one can only think this is a money-grab.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
