PFL announces 2025 World Tournament

January 15, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

A day after releasing the statement that Bellator would be no more, the PFL announced its new 2025 World Tournament featuring eight weight classes, each with eight world-class fighters to claim the title of PFL Champion.

According to the press release, the tournament starts in April, with semi-finals in June, and finals in August. All events will be on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US as well as streamed with broadcast partners internationally.

According to the brackets, the tournament will be single elimination with 8 fighters going at it in 8 weight divisions. The PFL is branding the tournament “One Shot.”

Payout Perspective:

Notably, the prize money for the fighters that win will be $500,000 which is a decrease from the PFL’s Million Dollar Tournament. Also of note is the question of what will happen with the Bellator and PFL roster not competing in the tournament. While the tournament will have 64 fighters (and likely some substitutes in the case of injury), there are still other fighters on the roster seeking work. Will the PFL hold other cards outside of the tournament or use the surplus of fighters as prelim fights on the card. We will see.
