Dana White reveals Jon Jones next opponent

September 14, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dana White told Complex Sports that Jon Jones will face Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309 in November at Madison Square Garden. It will be the first fight for Jones since March 2023. It will be the former heavyweight champ’s first fight since a loss to Francis Ngannou in March 2021.

Despite the long layoffs for both, the scheduled main event will determine the layout for the Heavyweight division in the UFC. White indicated to Complex Sports that Miocic may retire if he doesn’t defeat Jones in November.

Payout Perspective:

This is the long awaited return for Jones as well as Miocic. The overwhelming odds have Jones returning and defeating Miocic. At that point, it would be interesting to see if Jones would defend the title against interim title holder Tom Aspinall or take on Alex Perieria in what would be deemed a “superfight.” Both fight would bring appeal and the return of Jones brings back that big fight aura for the UFC>
