Conor McGregor returns June 29th to face Michael Chandler

April 15, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dana White announced that Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon on June 29th against Michael Chandler. White casually dropped the announcement in during the UFC 300 post-fight press conference.

It will mark the much-anticipated return for McGregor who has been out since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.

McGregor and Chandler have been circling each other on social media and Chandler even cut a promo on him at WWE Raw this past February. Both were coaches on TUF last year.

McGregor predicted (or knew) that he would return on New Year’s Eve 2023.

The fight will be contested at 170 pounds, not 185 pounds as McGregor joked in the video.

Payout Perspecctive:

The fight will surely headline International Fight Week’s event in Las Vegas this year. McGregor and Chandler have been promoting the fight everywhere and it was likely to happen once the former two-time champ cleared testing protocol. With UFC 300 being one of the biggest events in company history without a big name headliner, McGregor’s return at UFC 303 will mean an even bigger gate and a large PPV buy projection. Will we see $303,000 bonuses? Who knows.
