AEW Dynamite drew 819,000 viewers on TBS Wednesday night per Nielsen. It drew 0.30 in the A18-49 demo per Nielsen . The telecast was slightly up from last week for an advertised backstage video which showed CM Punk and Jack Perry’s backstage from All-In last August.
The telecast was highlighted by the controversial decision to air the backstage footage which CM Punk explained on Ariel Helwani’s show in lead-up to Wrestlemania. Tony Khan’s decision to air it 8 months after it had happened was a direct response to Punk’s interview. It was an unnecessary thing to do and a waste of television time for a company perceived to be losing money and fan interest.
CM Punk had put out his version of events first and the response by AEW was not well-received by the fans. There is no real path to business for AEW.
