Top 10 MMA Business Stories of 2023 – No. 6 Jake Paul signs with PFL

December 24, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

You can say it was the year of the Paul brothers. Jake Paul’s signing with PFL brought many to wonder whether he’d crossover to MMA. While that’s still yet to be seen, the Paul name has brought viewers to combat sports.

Definitely Paul’s loss to Tommy Fury in 2023 hurt, but Jake came back to knock down Nate Diaz in their boxing match this fall. Don’t hold your brother for a rematch in MMA. While Jake signed with PFL, it was not clear from the start whether that meant he’d be an MMA fighter or not. Definitely Paul is a savvy business person as well as self-promoter. There was no way he’d put himself in a situation where he would look bad. Boxing seems to be a passion and going 2-1 in 2023 was decent we will see where his boxing goes in 2024.

As for involvement in PFL, he does well as a hype-man in person and in social media. There might be a time where he tries MMA, but don’t expect Diaz to be his first opponent.

The Paul deal was one of several (which we will get to on this list) that propelled the promotion forward to the second-biggest in the world of professional MMA.
