UFC on ESPN 49 took place Saturday night at The Apex in Las Vegas. The UFC doled out 4 $50K bonuses for outstanding performances.
The Fight of the Night went to Jack Della Maddalena and Bassil Hafez earned the Fight of the Night. JDM earned the win over Hafez who took the fight on just five days’ notice. Despite the loss, its clear that Haffez will get other opportunities with the promotion. Hafez took the fight to JDM and showed talent in his audition with the UFC.
Mayra Bueno Silva defeated Holly Holm via submission in the second round of the main event. The Brazilian was impressive in this outing and made a case for the vacant women’s bantamweight title. Bueno Silva slapped on a standing guillotine/ninja/reverse ezekiel choke on Holm and the former champ had no other option but to tap.
Francisco Prado earned the other $50K bonus with a first round TKO over Ottman Zazitar. It was the first win for the 21-year-old Prado.
