The UFC 289 Prelims aired on Saturday on ESPN finishing 2nd overall in cable ratings next to the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on TNT. The Early Prelims drew 673,000 viewers which was 4th overall in cable.

The UFC 289 Prelims drew 518,000 viewers in the A18-49 demo and 0.49 household rating. The telecast started 3 minutes later than its scheduled time which was due in part to the Early Prelims bleeding over.

The prelims drew 0.27 in the 18-49 demo, 0.12 F18-49, 0.41 M18-49, 0.28 18-34, 0.09 F12-34, 0.34 M12-34, 0.29 25-54, 0.25 over 50.

The early prelims drew 0.27 18-49, 0.11 F18-49, 0.32 M18-49, 0.15 18-34, 0.07 F12-34, 0.17 M12-34, 0.29 25-54 and 0.25 in over 50 category.

Payout Perspective:

Almost 1 million viewers for UFC 189 is a good indicator that the PPV should do well. The prelims featured 3 fights with the most exciting being Aiemann Zahabi scoring a KO/TKO over Qileng Aori in the first round. The early prelims saw 2 fights with much of the hour devoted to hyping the PPV.
