Report: Haney-Loma draws just 150K buys

May 25, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dan Rafael reports that the Devin Haney-Vasily Lomachenko PPV fight on ESPN+ drew 150,000 buys. The number includes digital and linear purchases.

Notably, Rafael reports that Haney had a guarantee of $4 million while Loma had a guarantee of $3 million. The fight had a price point of $59.99.

The April 22nd fight between Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia fight drew 1.2 million PPV buys. PBC had priced the fight at $84.99 while it was $64.99 on DAZN but that does not include the subscription (of $19.99 per month to most).

Payout Perspective:

This is a rather surprising result in my opinion as boxing PPVs had been on the rise and that this fight would have at least reached 200K buys. While Davis-Garcia drew a reported 1.2M buys with a higher price point, this event, which did not go against other combat sports event barely broke even. We will see what it really means for both going forward and if their next fight would be on PPV.

This Anthony Smith situation is sad, its another cry for help of someone that's obviously suffering from something. No way you harm your wife and threaten to kill yourself just because.
