UFC 285 Bonuses

March 5, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC 285 took place Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night.  The event saw the return of Jon Jones who earned one of the night’s Performance Bonuses.

Jones grabbed the vacant UFC Heavyweight title with a quick submission victory over Cyril Gane in the first round.  Jones earned a Performance Bonus for his short night of work.

Alexa Grasso submitted Valentina Shevchenko to win the UFC women’s Flyweight Championship.  The upset of the year and perhaps the biggest upset in UFC title history since Matt Serra defeated Georges St. Pierre for the lightweight title.

Bo Nickal, making his first UFC appearance, earned a Performance Bonus for his submission victory over Jamie Pickett.

The Fight of the Night went to Shavkat Rahkmonov and Geoff Neal.  The fight was a back and forth match with Rahkmonov earning the victory.  Neal came in 5 pounds overweight which usually disqualifies him from receiving a bonus even if he was a part of the fight of the night.  But in the post-fight press conference Dana White indicated he was paying Neal anyway.

Thank you Seattle for the privilege. How often can anyone buy a Super Bowl winning team? Humbled.
