January 24, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC 283 Prelims on ABC drew 756,000 viewers on Saturday afternoon per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The telecast drew 219,000 viewers and 0.16 rating in the A18-49 demo.

The telecast drew 348,000 viewers on ESPN as it aired at the same time as the ABC telecast.  It drew 166,000 viewers in the A18-49.

UFC 283 Prelims on ABC drew 0.10 in the A18-34 demo, 0.16 in A18-49, 0.20 A25-54, 1.1 F18-49, 1.2 M18-49 and 1.0 in the over 50 category.

UFC 283 Prelims on ESPN drew 0.13 A18-49, 0.08 F18-49, 0.18 M18-49, 0.13 A18-34, 0.06 F12-34, 0.14 M12-34, 0.14 A25-54, 0.14 in the over 50 category.

The telecast of the final UFC fight of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua as he fought Ihor Potieria in the feature event of the Prelims.  Unfortunately, Potieria stopped Rua in the first round of their bout.

The last time the UFC Prelims aired on ABC was this past July when UFC 276 drew 929,000 viewers.

Payout Perspective:

It should be noted that the NFC Playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants occurred on Fox at the same time as the prelims.  Even though the game was a blowout, it still drew 28.6 million viewers and an 8 share during the bulk of the prelims.  Tough competition to deal with and but still a little disappointing that the UFC could not even get to 1 million viewers on ABC Saturday night.

This Anthony Smith situation is sad, its another cry for help of someone that's obviously suffering from something. No way you harm your wife and threaten to kill yourself just because.
