Top 10 of 2022: ONE Championship finds a new media partner, announces US 2023 date

December 23, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

It was a good year for ONE Championship as its re-emerged with another shot at breaking into the US market.

One Championship says its landed a US media deal

One Championship aired its first event on Amazon Prime this past August featuring Demetrious Johnson. In that fight, Johnson regained the One Championship Flyweight title from Moraes. The two will be in the feature event in Colorado this May. Johnson will take on rival Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes in the main event of the card on Friday, May 5th.

One Championship attempted to enter the US market prior to the pandemic but events in the states never materialized. A television deal with TNT did not go well and the hope from One is that the partnership with Amazon will help with marketing and sponsorship sales.

The finances of the company have been under scrutiny once again this year as a report from Bloody Elbow tabbed the company as having $110 million in losses. Yet, One is still securing money to continue to operate. 2023 could be a make or break year for the company as we will see how receptive the US market is to its product.
