Bellator announces CBS debut February 4, 2023

November 18, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Bellator 290 will take place in Inglewood, California and air on CBS for the first time in the promotion’s history.  On Friday, the promotion announced that Ryan Bader will defend his Bellator Heavyweight World Title against Fedor Emelianenko in the main event.

In addition, Yoel Romero will face the winner of the Light Heavyweight World Title between Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 4th and air live on CBS at 6pm PT.

The last time CBS aired an MMA card was Strikeforce  in 2010.

The telecast will take place during a dead week of sorts as the Super Bowl will take place the following Sunday.  Last year, the league pushed back the game a week.

Payout Perspective:

Bellator replays have been airing on CBS Sports and one has to believe the move to the network in February means that Paramount is happy with the product.  Obviously, the promotion hopes that both Bader and Fedor remain in good health until their showdown.  If so, Bellator should have its biggest audience ever for the telecast.
