Adesanya detained by NY Port Authorities for possession of metal knuckles

November 17, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Israel Adesanya was detained by authorities after it was discovered that he had metal knuckles in baggage belonging to the former UFC middleweight champion.  According to Adesanya’s manager, the contraband was given to him by a fan that he just stored in his bags.

The initial reports indicated that Adesanya was arrested due to the fact that brass knuckles are an illegal carry-on for flights.  But, per his manager, Adesanya complied with authorities, disposed of the item and was allowed to get on his flight back to New Zealand.

According to the New York Port Authority, Adesanya was arrested for possession of metal knuckles.  He was given a ticket for a future appearance in court.

Payout Perspective:

In all likelihood, Adesanya will have to pay a fine for bringing metal knuckles through security although with his manager’s explanation it could all be a misunderstanding that might even be dismissed prior to the court hearing.  After losing the title to Alex Pereira on Saturday, this probably was not the best trip in Izzy’s career.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
