PFL PPV price revealed

November 15, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

MMA Fighting reports that the PFL World Championships taking place on Friday, November 25th will have a PPV price point of $49.99.  It is the company’s first PPV.

The event, which takes place a day after thanksgiving, in New York City includes the finals in each division for $1 million.  The main event will be Kayla Harrison taking on Larissa Pacheco in the women’s lightweight final.

The company’s PPV will air on ESPN+ will be the PFL’s first PPV and will shed light on the future of this strategy.

Payout Perspective:

The PPV will tell us a lot of the direction of the company going forward.  Certainly the day after Thanksgiving could be good, could be bad with the holiday.  From the con perspective, it will be a holiday weekend with many out of the house and shopping on Black Friday. From a positive perspective, those that are home may be enticed to watch the PPV and falls on a day without competition from the UFC or Bellator.  The PPV will also tell us the drawing power of Kayla Harrison.  She is certainly the dominating force in the women’s division and (arguably) the biggest star the promotion has to offer.  If the PPV hits internal benchmarks, Harrison’s star should be even higher than it already is at this point.

I should point out that according to those at TKO that the ESPN/MVPW boxing deal is a revenue sharing agreement similar to the original AEW/Turner deal in 2019 and not a full paying media rights deal which Top Rank had and wasn't renewed.
