UFC reups with sponsor Battle Motors, expands marketing

November 7, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Sports Business Journal reports that UFC sponsor Battle Motors has renewed its sponsorship with the promotion and expanded its deal with the company.  Battle Motors now becomes the first-ever Official Electric Commercial Truck of the UFC.

The deal is for another two years from the original two-year agreement.  It also includes another two-year option.  The deal expands the sponsorship from Official Light Duty Truck and the presenting sponsor of the Light Heavyweight division to now a new division for Official Electric Commercial Truck of the UFC.  The announcement coincides with UFC 281 Fight Week in New York City and Battle Motors will have a presence in the Octagon on Saturday night.

Per the SBJ report, the deal is in the mid-seven figures total.

Payout Perspective:

The announcement comes in time for the UFC’s PPV Saturday.  There has not been a lot of presence of the Battle Motors logo in UFC events but we might expect it to change more with the new deal.  There will likely be more activation around it including content features and social and digital inventory.

Interesting - in the early 2000s, HBO had to defend "de facto" promoter allegations in front of Congress. If DAZN uses licensed promoters to organize the fights, it's hard to call them a "promoter." SRL signed deals with ABC and HBO without having a promoter, so it's been done.
