WWE making SEC championship belts

September 26, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

WWE superstar, and former Tennessee Volunteer track star made an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay as part of its celebrity guest picker to choose college games for the day. Bel Air revealed a Tennessee inspired championship belt like WWE superstars. These belts will be on sale for the public with colors of SEC schools.

The WWE has made it a custom for winners of major sports to receive these belts to the popularity of the players. WWE has secured licenses to all 14 SEC teams so that the sideplates of the WWE belts can be outfitted with the university logos. The side plates will be available for purchase ahead of conference championship games per a report by the Sports Business Journal.

Payout Perspective:

WWE has been seeping into the mainstream of the US sports fans’ conscience. With players watching WWE, it was natural that the company would attempt to license its belt to sports teams. College fans are big on supporting their schools so this seemed like a natural fit. One need only go to a tailgate party on Saturday to seem the extremes that college fans will go to.
