Gane-Tuivasa FOTN at UFC Paris

September 3, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC made its debut in Paris and it drew a sellout crowd to see the feature bout which also was the Fight of the Night. Cyryl Gane’s KO of Tai Tuivasa drew the honors.

The former Interim Heavyweight Champion stopped Tuivasa in a heavyweight war.

Performance of the Night went to Abus Magomedov who took just 19 seconds to stop Dustin Stoltzfus in his debut with the promotion.  The Performance of the Night went to Benoit Saint-Denis with a stoppage of Gabriel Miranda.  Saint-Denis stopped Miranda with the opening seconds in round 2 to grab the $50K bonus.

According to the UFC, the event was a sell out with 15,405 in attendance for a gate of $3,242,837 (USD).

Payout Perspective:

It was a great debut in the country for the UFC and with Gane’s exciting finish it spurs the hope that he may one day bring a championship fight back to the country.

But seriously if this is being presented as a pivot, Dana's bluster about being too easy to change the game in #boxing, is actually harder than he thought.

Zuffa Boxing’s long-term plan is becoming less clear.

The promotion launched with the goal of creating a UFC-style boxing league, but its latest moves suggest a shift toward co-promoting major fights.
