UFC announces return to Brazil, new media partner

August 10, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC announced that it will return to Brazil on January 21, 2023 for UFC 283 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.  The announcement was made in conjunction with the news that Band TV network will be the new broadcast home in Brazil for all UFC events.

Also, UFC Fight Pass will launch in the country starting January 1st and will be a “fully localized version” of the streaming service which will lean heavily on broadcasting of the country’s UFC stars.

Band will replace the current UFC provider, Globo.  According to a report from MMA Fighting, Band, the fourth-largest Brazilian TV network in audience and revenue in the country, is heavily investing in sports.  It currently owns rights to Formula 1 racing and NBA on network TV in the country.

Band TV will provide free broadcasts of select UFC events and original content while UFC Fight Pass will receive access to all live UFC events, including PPVs.
