Stephanie McMahon takes leave from WWE

May 20, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Stephanie McMahon announced on Thursday that she would be taking a leave of absence from “the majority” of her responsibilities at WWE. The move was a surprise to many within the company as she and Vince McMahon are the only members of the family with active roles within the company.

McMahon, the company’s Chief Brand Officer, announced via Twitter her leave.  The leave was McMahon’s decision and based on her desire to focus on her family.  Notably, her husband, Paul Levesque, (aka Triple H), suffered a health scare last year.  Fortunately, he has recovered as is back on the job at WWE.

There is no timetable for McMahon’s return and one might assume that someone will assume her duties while she takes her sabbatical.

As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.

Payout Perspective:

McMahon has been instrumental in elevating the company’s mainstream presence and despite the family’s conservative lean, she has been outspoken about equality and rights for all.  She’s also been the face of the company with WWE President Nick Khan and Vince McMahon taking a backseat to Stephanie when it comes to corporate appearances.

People who do martial arts will laugh and tell me it’s fake. But then I ask them why they do martial arts? 😉

I should point out that according to those at TKO that the ESPN/MVPW boxing deal is a revenue sharing agreement similar to the original AEW/Turner deal in 2019 and not a full paying media rights deal which Top Rank had and wasn't renewed.
