Oliveira misses weight, loses title on scale

May 6, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Charles Oliveira has been stripped of his UFC lightweight title as he failed to make the championship weight of 155 pounds on Saturday at UFC 274. Oliveira will still face Justin Gaethje Saturday in Phoenix with the challenger the only one having the opportunity to win the belt.

Oliveira missed weight on his first and second weigh-ins on Friday. Do Bronx missed weight by .5. He will forfeit a portion of his purse and its not sure if he will retain the opportunity to make PPV points on this event. Gaethje made championship weight this morning of 155.

This was the first time that Oliveira missed weight since returning to lightweight in 2017.

Oliveira versus Gaethje is the headliner for Saturday’s card.
