AEW Dynamite debut show on TBS draws 1.01M viewers

January 7, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

AEW Dynamite drew 1.01M viewers on Wednesday in its new home on TBS.  It was good enough for second in the cable ratings behind the early NBA game on ESPN.

The NBA game saw the Dallas Mavericks defeat the Golden State Warriors and draw 1.691M viewers and 0.53 in the A18-49 demo.

AEW Dynamite drew 0.43 in the A18-49, 0.30 F18-49, 0.55 in M18-49, 0.34 A18-34, 0.24 F12-34, 0.29 M12-34, 0.47 in A25-54 and 0.35 in over 50.

The move from TNT to TBS was due to the NHL which had aired after AEW.  However, without a lead-in the NHL game between St. Louis and Pittsburgh drew 626,000 viewers.

Payout Perspective:

The move to TBS saw AEW go back over 1 million after several weeks sub 1 million viewers.  Also, airing an east coast NHL helped with viewership as the ratings doubled from the west coast NHL games which saw a dramatic drop-off after AEW.
