UFC 268 to have 4th highest gate in UFC history at MSG

November 5, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports that UFC 268 will be the 4th highest gate in Madison Square Garden’s history.  The event will feature two title fights on Saturday night.

The UFC’s first event in New York’s Madison Square Garden drew the biggest gate.  UFC 205 which featured Conor McGregor defeating Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title.  The event drew a gate of $17,700,000.

While 4th highest may not sound like it will be a successful card, bear in mind that there is also a big boxing event in Las Vegas on the same night. Also, the New York events bring in hefty gates based on the sheer size of the events.

Certainly Kamaru Usman-Colby Covington should be a big event and a good card.  Its not known how the UFC priced this event in comparison to UFC 205 and another NY MSG card like GSP’s return against Michael Bisping.  Those two events likely had higher price points than this Saturday’s event.
