UFC Fight Night 196 took place Saturday afternoon at The Apex in Las Vegas. Martin Vettori led the way with a Performance Bonus in a hard-hitting main event against Paulo Costa.
The Vettori-Costa fight could have been a Fight of the Night but for Costa’s inability to make the original contracted weight of 185 pounds. The two were supposed to fight at 195 but the two eventually settled on 205 pounds. Vettori earned the unanimous decision.
In addition, Alex Caceres earned the other Performance Bonus with a come from behind win over Seungwoo Choi. After getting dominated in the first round, Caceres jumped on Choi’s back and choked him out.
The Fight of the Night went to Gregory Rodrigues and Junyoung Park. Rodrigues won the hard fought fistfight with a stoppage in Round 2.
