AEW scores 1.172M viewers with CM Punk

August 26, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

All Elite Wrestling drew 1.172 million viewers on Wednesday night making it the top-rated cable telecast for the night.  The demo rating of 0.48 in the A18-49 category was the best since the first episode in October 2019.

AEW Dynamite saw the first appearance of CM Punk and it came with tremendous number.  The telecast drew a cable TV high of 0.67 in M18-49.  It also drew 0.29 in the F18-49 demo, 024 in A18-34, 0.13 in F12-34, 0.24 in M12-34, 0.55 in A25-54 and 0.44 in over 50.

Notably, AEW beat Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  Really, that show gets a lot of viewers.

The return of CM Punk has fueled the company with big ratings.  Friday night’s Rampage on TNT scored the highest ratings albeit in the telecast’s second show. Wednesday night was the third-highest overall AEW show with the A18-49 demo scoring the best since its debut.

The spike in ratings shows the value of CM Punk.  Will he be able to deliver in the ring when he debuts on PPV on September 5th?  Does it really matter?  We shall see.
