Gaethje-Chiesa video kicks off Jose Cuervo-UFC deal

Jose Cuervo is now the Official Tequila of the UFC.  The announcement comes in conjunction with a video featuring Justin Gaethje and Michael Chiesa with the hashtag #CuervoInYour Corner.

Gaethje and Chiesa bring their intensity to a square off at a house party. Both fighters released the video on their social media Tuesday.

The UFC already has a vodka partner in Nemiroff, flavored whiskey brand partner Howler Head and beer sponsor Modelo.  Although it may not be an official sponsor, Conor McGregor’s Proper Twelve spirit is always visible.

Payout Perspective:

The brand portfolio keeps growing for the UFC and it is filling up its alcohol and spirits sponsor categories.  Jose Cuervo is one of the most recognizable brands in the tequila industry.  The announcement of the sponsorship coinciding with UFC 264 makes sense considering that with the return of Conor McGregor

Interesting - in the early 2000s, HBO had to defend "de facto" promoter allegations in front of Congress. If DAZN uses licensed promoters to organize the fights, it's hard to call them a "promoter." SRL signed deals with ABC and HBO without having a promoter, so it's been done.
