Taylor-Ramirez telecast draws 995K

May 25, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole reports that ESPN’s showing of Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor peaked with 1.673M viewers.

The overall telecast on ESPN drew 995,000 viewers and 687,000 in the A18-49 demo.

The ratings do not reflect the number of people watching on ESPN+.

Taylor defeated Ramirez to win the undisputed Junior Welterweight title.

The #RamirezTaylor fight Saturday for the undisputed super lightweight title averaged 995k viewers and peaked during the end of the main event at 1.673 million. That doesn’t include viewers streaming on ESPN+. That number is ESPN only. Also does not include ESPN Deportes.

What has to be encouraging for boxing people is that the fight did 687 among people 18-49, so it attracted a younger audience.

Payout Perspective:

The event was widely promoted across all ESPN platforms.  Taylor put on a huge performance and it was a showcase for him.  The event went up against the UFC on the ESPN+ platform as well, but this event was the marquee event on Saturday night.
