Venum unveiled its apparel line on UFC.com. The longtime MMA brand is the new official apparel of the UFC.
The UFC relationship with Reebok ended this past March after 7 years. Notably, the modeling in the photoshoot still reveal Reebok shoes as its not clear whether there will be a separate deal for footwear. The new deal with Venum is undisclosed in financial terms and years although believed to be a shorter deal.
Terms of the Venum pay scale were revealed last week and the bump in pay was underwhelming.
As for the licensed apparel that fans can purchase, the price points are similar to that of Reebok gear. Designs include the ‘Fang’ logo sported on most Venum gear.
Payout Perspective:
As they embark on the new partnership, one has to think that the UFC decided on a shorter term than it did with Reebok because it wants an opportunity to land a bigger deal. Moreover, Venum may have been a fallback from another target partner. This is a great opportunity for Venum as it gives the brand prime real estate with the UFC. It already has a base of fans within the hardcore base and has a chance to expand. It’s had the chance to sit back and learn from lessons in the Reebok deal. But, the overarching scrutiny will be on the pay scale to fighters to wear the gear.
