Ottman Azaitar given second chance by UFC

Dana White has decided to give Ottman Azaitar a second chance.  According to a report from ESPN, the lightweight will get another chance in the UFC.

Azaitar was released after he broke COVID-19 safety protocols in Abu Dhabi.  Security witnessed an unauthorized guest enter Azaitar’s room.  Previous reports had people from Azaitar’s team take off their security bracelets which identify them as secure and tested within the ‘bubble’ and give them to an outsider with the individual bringing a bag into Azaitar’s room.

Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN that it was all a “misunderstanding.”

Payout Perspective:

It helps to have someone on your side with a stable of fighters in the promotion.  While it was deserved for the UFC to have terminated Azaitar for the breach of protocols, the lightweight is 2-0 in the UFC with two first-round Knockouts.  So, there is an upside to retaining him.  Also, Abdelaziz’s relationship with the UFC probably helped as well.
