UFC 257 hits the drive-in

January 6, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Without a capacity crowd or closed-circuit television for the company’s first PPV of 2021, the company is partnering with Encore Drive-In Nights to air UFC 257 in drive-in theatres.

With the pandemic keeping people from attending live events in person, the UFC is pivoting to drive-ins which are allowed as a way of social distancing.

The charge for the event is $59 in advance for a carload of up to 6 people and $65 on the day of the event.

The event is anticipated to draw well as it features the return of Conor McGregor as he takes on Dustin Poirier in a rematch of their 2014 fight.

Payout Perspective:

The pivot to the drive-in is an effort to gain as much revenue for a Conor McGregor event is possible. If this was a normal year without a pandemic, you would probably expect this one in movie theatres. But with movies closed, the next best thing is the drive-in. Will be interesting to see how many people actually drive to watch in their car.

🚨🚨🚨Trump on Truth Social: Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran. A relatively small section of the whole has been hit. The United States knew nothing about this

Contrary to Trump’s statements, senior Israeli and U.S. officials said that the United States had prior knowledge of the Israeli strike and even approved it in an attempt to pressure Iran. After the Iranians retaliated against Qatar’s gas fields, Trump is now changing course
