UFC Fight Night Prelims draw 413K

December 22, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC Fight Night 183 Prelims on ESPN drew 413K viewers per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The main card appeared on ESPN+ only.

The Prelims featured Anthony Pettis as he defeated Alex Morono in the feature bout on the undercard.  The main card featured Stephen Thompson as he defeated Geoff Neal via Unanimous Decision.

UFC Fight Night 183 started earlier than normal which may have been due to the Canelo Alvarez-Callum Smith fight on DAZN or the SEC Championship on CBS.  Either way, the night ended early for the UFC after the main card.

Payout Perspective:

The prelim rating is about the norm for although it was not the lead-in for the main card.  Anthony Pettis on the prelims was not really highlighted prior to the show and it might have received some more viewers to see Showtime.  A mid-afternoon card on the west coast likely hurt some viewers that were watching college football.

This Anthony Smith situation is sad, its another cry for help of someone that's obviously suffering from something. No way you harm your wife and threaten to kill yourself just because.
