UFC 254 Prelims on ESPN2 draws 343,000

October 27, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC 254 PPV Prelims drew 343,000 viewers on ESPN 2 Saturday morning according to Nielsen Media Research via ShowBuzz Daily.  The telecast went opposite many early College Football games on Saturday and was off of the main network.

UFC 254 featured Tai Taivasa as he defeated Stefan Struve in a battle of heavyweights.

Last September, Khabib Nurmogomedov faced Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi and the prelims aired on FX due to football.  Those prelims, which aired during the morning or mid-morning in the United States drew 222,000 viewers.

Payout Perspective:

This is one of those anomalies where you cannot judge the prelim ratings with the anticipated buy rate for UFC 254.  Fox, ESPN and ABC had College Football games which drew a combined 9 million viewers.  The Prelims may have been buried as a result although there was enough promotion for the fight that viewers tuned in the afternoon to watch the main card via PPV.

Wait, is this for real? Trump spent $60 million of our taxpayer funds to host a UFC fight and then is selling UFC coin to line his family’s pockets. The Trump corruption swamp is a mile deep.
