UFC on ESPN 16 bonuses

October 4, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC on ESPN 16 took place Saturday night from Fight Island.  Germaine de Randamie’s impressive submission over Julianna Pena led the bonuses for the night.

The striker earned a Performance of the Night bonus with her guillotine submission over Pena which put her to sleep.  It was her second career post-fight bonus and her first submission.

Kyler Phillips earned a Performance of the Night bonus with his victory over Cameron Else.  Phillips used a headkick to end the night for Else which led to the finish at the beginning of round 2. Dusko Todorovic earned his $50,000 after he outlasted Dequan Townsend in a slugfest.  The Serbian stopped Townsend in the second round of their fight.  Luigi Vendramini defeated Jessin Ayari in the opening bout of the night and earned one of the Performance Bonuses.  A head kicked was the beginning of the end for Ayari as the fight was called off in the very first round.

Payout Perspective:

It was an impressive night of fights which saw one of the best performances of Holly Holm’s career as she defeated Irene Aldana by unanimous decision.  The night’s pacing was very slow due in part to some stoppages listed above.
