White hints at “big announcement” regarding boxing coming soon

September 22, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

In a recent interview with The BT Sport Boxing Show, Dana White indicated that there will be a big announcement related to his possible boxing venture.

In the interview, he said he had “something to announce soon” in the world of boxing.  “When its time, I’ll let you know,” he told the show.

Previously, White criticized the sport of boxing and in the interview stated that it seemed “unfixable.”  Zuffa Boxing had been mentioned as a possible happening in the past but seemed to be put on the back burner.  In recent interviews, White mentioned that he had been talking with Floyd Mayweather about a possible return.  While not spoken together, last week he told ESPN that he’s spoken with Conor McGregor about his return in 2021 saying “[w]e’re actually working on some fun stuff…”

Hopefully, McGregor-Mayweather II is not the announcement White makes.

Payout Perspective:

There should be news, according to White, about a potential boxing event or boxing-related news in which he plans to be a part of.  Whether or not the news means Zuffa Boxing is opening for business is yet to be determined.  Assuming it does, one has to wonder if UFC fighters will compete and/or if it will be separate from MMA and cultivate pure boxers to compete with the market of boxing promoters out there.
