Teixeira tests positive for COVID-19, fight versus Santos delayed to October

September 3, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Glover Teixeira has tested positive for COVID-19 and his September 12th fight with Thiago Santos will not take place according to multiple sources and first reported by Combate.

The fight has been moved to the October 3rd.   The light heavyweight matchup will determine a potential challenger for the recently vacated title by Jon Jones.

Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz are set to fight at UFC 253 later this month to determine the new light heavyweight champion.

With Texixeira-Santos out September 12th, the feature bout looks to be Michelle Waters and Angella Hill.

Payout Perspective:

The news that this fight will be delayed a couple weeks likely means that Teixeira is asymptomatic of symptoms which is a good sign for him.  Of course, Ion Cutelaba did the same thing and his fight was postponed as he tested positive again for COVID-19.  Hopefully, Teixeira can come back without any symptoms by October.

The issue has been a concern for both bettors and the gambling industry itself.
