PBC on Fox loses big to NASCAR

August 30, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

PBC on Fox Saturday night drew 713,000 viewers in the first hour and 826,000 in the second hour in fast nationals per Nielsen Media Research via ShowBuzz Daily.  The event went up against NASCAR on NBC which averaged over 3.5 million viewers in the same time slot.

The fast nationals do not account for any overrun by the programs but its clear that NASCAR outdrew boxing on the network.  Also, on the slate during this time period was the NBA Playoff game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland TrailBlazers on TNT.

The ratings reflect that the younger and older demo is more into NASCAR than they are into boxing.  Ratings reflect that NASCAR pulled strong viewership in the A18-49 (0.6), M18-49 (5 share) and over 50 (6 share).  In comparison, PBC on Fox drew just (0.1,0.2) in A18-49, (1,2) in M18-49 and a 1 share for over 50.

PBC on Fox was headlined by Erislandy Lara defeating Greg Vendetti to retain the WBA ‘Regular” Super Welterweight Title.

Payout Perspective:

In its second telecast on Fox this month, the viewership for PBC on Fox has to be a disappointment.  Certainly, it has gone up against stiff competition, but it’s not building an audience and was overshadowed in all categories by NASCAR.
