OSP tests positive for COVID-19, co-main with Menifield moved to September 5

August 22, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Tonight’s UFC on ESPN 15 co-main event competitor Ovince Saint Preux has tested positive for COVID-19 and his fight with Alonzo Menifield has been scratched from tonight’s card at the UFC Apex.

OSP and Menifield will fight on September 5th.  OSP had tested positive for COVID-19 and then tested negative. Upon arriving to Las Vegas for Saturday’s scheduled fight he had tested positive and negative.  Out of caution, he was pulled from the event.

For safety precautions the @003_OSP fight will be removed from the card tonight and reschedule for 9/5. He battled Covid previously and presented both + and – tests this week. He currently has no symptoms and his cornermen are all clear. #ufc

Payout Perspective:

The testing protocol deals with another issue: the false positive.  It’s not clear based on the news of the test results but out of abundance of caution it appears this is the right move and with the weekly events going on for the UFC, it was easy to reschedule.
