Dana White told CNN that this October 24th Khabib Nurmogomedov faces Justin Gaethje for his lightweight title at a yet-to-be determined venue.
Nurmogomedov, mourning the death of his father who passed from complications related to COVID-19, will return against the interim title holder. Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson this past May at UFC 249 to earn the shot.
Notably, Nurmogomedov and Gaethje are represented by the same agent.
Payout Perspective:
This fight will truly be an intriguing matchup as Gaethje has matured after being just a brawler for the first part of his career. His fight against Ferguson showed his patience and patience. Nurmogomedov is on the top of the division but know one knows how he will be after the death of his father. Although not officially announced, expect this to be a PPV and for it to do above average considering the magnitude of this fight alone.
