Chimaev tops 5 UFC on ESPN 14 bonuses

July 26, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC on ESPN 14 took place on Saturday night from Fight Island and Khamzat Chimaev may never want to leave it.  In two events in 10 days, Chimaev has amassed $100,000 in fight bonuses.

Chimaev’s destruction of Rhys McKee and taking on no damage earned him another first round stoppage.  Obviously, Chimaev scored a Performance Bonus on Saturday.

Also earning bonuses on Saturday were Canadian heavyweight Tanner Boser as he had a second-round KO over Raphael Pessoa. Tom Aspinall’s UFC debut was memorable as he earned a TKO over Jake Collier in the first round of their matchup.  Jesse Ronson drew a first-round submission over Nicolas Dalby, Paul Craig submitted Gadzhimurad Antigulov.

Finally, Fabricio Werdum, in what could be the final fight in the UFC for the former UFC heavyweight champion, earned $50K for his first-round submission over Alexander Gustafsson.

Interesting - in the early 2000s, HBO had to defend "de facto" promoter allegations in front of Congress. If DAZN uses licensed promoters to organize the fights, it's hard to call them a "promoter." SRL signed deals with ABC and HBO without having a promoter, so it's been done.
