Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has found a home on DAZN starting in August according to The Athletic. The upstart promotion will present a special series of fights beginning in August.
The events will be seen on DAZN’s service in the U.S. and Canada. Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, founded in April 2018 is based out of Philadelphia and had its first event in June of the same year in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Since then, it has had 10 events with the most recent in February 2020. BKFC has included former UFC fighters as well as boxers.
Recently, it reportedly offered Mike Tyson $20 million to return to the ring. However, Tyson turned down the offer and took another to fight Roy Jones, Jr. in September.
DAZN has been hurting of late since the pandemic began as live events around the world were cancelled leaving the digital platform without its most important commodity. It notified sports leagues in May that it would stop paying rights fees and furloughed employees as cost-cutting measures. It is returning with live action this August with boxing events.
BKFC returns Friday with BKFC 11 from Oxford, Mississippi.
Payout Perspective:
The addition of BKFC helps both companies as DAZN is looking for more live content and the bareknuckle promotion is looking for distribution. While BKFC is little-known outside of the hardcore combat sports fans, airing on DAZN will help a casual combat sports fan acclimate to the sport.
